24-27 Haziran 2019 tarihinde New York / A.B.D.'de gerçekleştirilen World Society For Stereotactic And Functional Neurosurgery Kongresindeki Konuşmasında halk arasında beyin pili olarak bilinen Derin Beyin Stimülasyonu tedavisinin parkinson hastalarında yüz mimiklerine olan etkisi ile ilgili yaptığımız önemli bir çalışmanın sonuçlarını bilim dünyası ile paylaştı.
[resim]Uluslarası Nöromodülasyoın Derneğinin 14. kongresindeki konuşmamda Derin Beyin Stimülasyonu (beyin pili) ameliyatında iki ayrı hedefin tek elektrod ile nasıl uyarılabileceği tekniğini paylaştım.

Kesilen uzvun yerinde hissedilen yani olmayan bir uzvun ağrıması şeklinde seyreden ve tıp dilinde Fantom ağrısı olarak bilinen dirençli ağrının tedavisinde kullandığımız Spinal Kord Stimülasyonu yani omurilik pili ameliyatının eğitimini almak üzere merkezimize geldi.

Beyin Pili Konusunda Eğitim Vermeye Devam Ediyoruz
Beyin pili ameliyatı konusunda tarafımızdan eğitim almak üzere merkezimize gelen meslektaşımız Dr. O. T. Kısa eğitim programının ardından bir parkinson hastasına uyguladığımız beyin pili ameliyatına katılarak eğitim programının ilk kısmını tamamlamış oldu. Merkezimizin / Üniversitemizin ve Ülkemizin dünyanın dört bir yanından gelen meslektaşlarımıza eğitim veren bir merkez olma konumuna yükselmesi gurur verici. Başta beyin pili olmak üzere tüm Nöromodülasyon uygulamalarının (mesane pili, omurilik pili, vagus pili, Baklofen pompası) başarıyla gerçekleştirildiği merkezimizin; Suudi Arabistan, Libya, Fas, Kuveyt ve İran’dan sonra Balkan bölgesinden de meslektaşlarımızın eğitim almak konusunda tercih edilmesinin ülkemizin ve merkezimizin adının dünya tarafından bilinirliğini arttıracağını düşünmekteyim.
Bir süredir İstanbul Okan Üniversitesi Hastanesi’nde; titremeli felç olarak bilinen Parkinson hastalığı, istemsiz kasılma ve istemsiz hareketlerle seyreden Distoni hastalığı ve titreme hastalığı olarak bilinen Esansiyel Tremor hastalıklarının tedavisinde gerçekleştirdiğim beyin pili ameliyatı; en teknolojik ve yeni girişimlerden biri olup komşu ülkelerimizin birçoğunda yapılamamaktadır. Meslektaşlarımız bu tür ameliyatları kendi ülkelerinde de gerçekleştirebilmek için tarafımdan eğitim alma talebinde bulunmakta ve ameliyatlarıma eşlik etmektedirler. Merkezimizde ayrıca idrar ve büyük abdest kaçırma gibi problemler için mesane pili, şiddetli bacak ağrıları için omurilik pili, tedaviye dirençli sara hastalığı için vagus pili, tedaviye dirençli kasılma hastalığı için de Baklofen pompası ameliyatları başarıyla yapılmaktadır. Tüm bu uygulamalar Nöromodülasyon ameliyatları şemsiyesi altında birleşmekte olup merkezimizde tüm bu Nöromodülasyon ameliyatları başarıyla gerçekleştirilmektedir.
